Vasco and Flamengo meet in a classic match on Thursday at 20:00 local time at Nilton Santos Stadium for the 33rd round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Vasco, currently 13th, enters the match looking to maintain their distance from the relegation zone following a win over Corinthians. Flamengo is expected to keep the same starting lineup used in their recent victory against Atlético-MG, with Plata set to continue in the side as Carrascal serves a suspension.
Elsewhere, São Paulo suffered a 3-2 defeat against Bahia, with coach Dorival Júnior noting the team's struggles with aerial play. Defender Sabino picked up a yellow card in that match and will be suspended for the upcoming clash against Corinthians. Meanwhile, Botafogo was defeated 2-1 by Remo, a result coach Tite attributed largely to conceding an early goal.
Off the pitch, Flamengo’s Board of Directors approved a budget readjustment for 2026. Following a season of sporting setbacks, the club now projects a R$ 40 million deficit, a significant shift from the initial forecast of a R$ 180 million surplus.
