The Public Prosecutor's Office of São Paulo has requested the preventive arrest of Armando Mendonça, vice-president of Corinthians, in connection with an investigation into alleged irregularities involving sports gear supplied by Nike. Prosecutor Cássio Conserino submitted the petition to the 25th Criminal Court.
An internal audit conducted by Corinthians identified deviations in the management of equipment provided by the supplier. The prosecutor's action came on Friday following the dismissal of Marcelo Munhoes, the club's former Information Technology director, who is regarded as a key witness for the prosecution.
