  • Palmeiras president Leila Pereira condemned Flamengo's legal petition, calling the move ridiculous.

Flamengo has formally requested that Conmebol overturn their Copa Libertadores semi-final elimination against Estudiantes, alleging that defender Marcos Rojo was fielded improperly. The Brazilian club urged the governing body to sanction Estudiantes with a 3-0 defeat for violating tournament regulations.

Estudiantes earned their spot in the final by defeating Flamengo on penalties after both legs ended in 0-0 draws. In an official statement published on Saturday night, Flamengo stated that Estudiantes had involved them in an ongoing case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Flamengo added that it had warned CAS before the match that it would claim the points if Rojo featured.

The appeal drew strong criticism from Palmeiras president Leila Pereira, whose side is also through to the final. Pereira publicly denounced Flamengo's attempt to alter the semi-final outcome, labeling the Rio club's stance as ridiculous.
