Flamengo has initiated legal proceedings with Conmebol to challenge the final standings of the Copa Libertadores following their semifinal exit. The Brazilian club is contesting the eligibility of Estudiantes defender Marcos Rojo, who participated in the matches despite initial registration issues.

According to reports from ge, Rojo's inclusion followed a specific authorization from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This intervention occurred after Conmebol had previously rejected the player's registration due to a complicated transfer from his former club, Racing.

While Flamengo concluded their Libertadores campaign without a defeat on the pitch, the elimination has increased pressure on the team regarding their performance in the Brazilian league. While journalist Fred Gomes described the exit as fair due to errors by manager Jardim, the club continues to seek a judicial resolution.
