FIFA has extended the football-related ban for Democratic Republic of the Congo coach Jonathan Bukabakwa, known as Messi, until 2048. The coach was originally handed a 20-year suspension by the governing body following a conviction for the sexual abuse of a minor.
The additional five-year penalty was imposed after it was discovered that Bukabakwa continued to train children despite his active suspension. Alongside the extended ban, he has been ordered to pay a further fine of $15,000, equivalent to £11,200.
In response to the incident, FIFA has issued a directive to the DR Congo Football Association, requiring the organization to enhance its compliance measures and educational protocols.
