Felipe Melo has publicly criticized the instructions provided by manager Marcão to the Fluminense squad during a hydration break in the second half of their Copa Libertadores semifinal against Palmeiras. Speaking on Seleção sportv, the commentator argued that the guidance lacked sufficient tactical substance.

Questions have also been raised regarding the limited usage of forward Wesley Natã. Despite scoring in the first leg and providing an assist for Hércules during the match at Nubank Parque, the youngster featured for only 24 of the 180 minutes played in the series. Marcão defended the decision by noting that the player is still developing.

Following their elimination, Fluminense is now working to secure a spot in the 2027 Libertadores. In the aftermath of the defeat, midfielder Nonato was seen apologizing to the fans and was consoled by teammate Arias.
