- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the remainder of the 2026 NFL season.
- He was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli.
- Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson received a one-game suspension without pay.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 NFL season. The decision follows a diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, which will prevent him from participating in further games this year.
Separately, the NFL has issued a one-game suspension without pay to Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson. This disciplinary action stems from an incident that occurred last Sunday, October 18, during the Week 6 clash of the 2026-27 season between the Bills and the Las Vegas Raiders. Gardner-Johnson was found to have spat in the direction of Raiders tight end Brock Bowers during the contest. He had already been ejected from that specific game for the unsportsmanlike conduct. As a direct consequence of the ban, Gardner-Johnson will be unavailable for Buffalo's upcoming game against the Ravens, scheduled for Sunday, November 1. The player retains the option to appeal the league's decision.
