Deadline for Botafogo SAF ownership stake arrives this Saturday
- Eagle Bidco faces a Saturday deadline to avoid dilution of its SAF Botafogo stake.
- Failure to exercise preferential rights will grant the social club 99% ownership.
- The decision follows a capital increase approved during a September general assembly.
The future of the SAF Botafogo ownership structure is nearing a definitive resolution. This Saturday marks the final deadline for Eagle Bidco, the firm established by John Textor, to exercise its right of first refusal regarding shares issued following a capital increase.
This capital expansion was officially approved during an Extraordinary General Assembly held in September. Should the firm fail to act, its current stake will be diluted, effectively transferring nearly total control of the SAF to the Botafogo social club.
During the September assembly, club president João Paulo Magalhães Lins indicated that he would execute the right of preference. If the option remains unexercised by Textor’s company, the social club is positioned to assume 99% of the shares.
