Avaí suffered a critical 1-0 defeat against Náutico at the Aflitos stadium during the 36th round of the 2026 Brasileirão Série B. The loss leaves the club on the brink of relegation to Série C, as they failed to secure the points necessary to keep their survival hopes alive.
Interim coach Marquinhos Santos did not hold back in his assessment, describing the first half as shameful. He noted that the squad lacked the necessary desire and effort for a match of such high stakes, stating that the players failed to compete as required in a decisive encounter.
While Avaí managed a few flashes of offense in the second half, including three notable shots between the 20th and 30th minutes and a header from Hyan in the 46th minute, they were unable to find an equalizer. Avaí will look to regroup for their upcoming fixtures against São Bernardo on November 7 at the Ressacada and América-MG on November 14.
