The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced its backing for Gianni Infantino to serve another term as president of FIFA. During an extraordinary congress, AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim al-Khalifa expressed his support for the incumbent leader, notably embracing him during the event.
This decision represents a notable reversal in policy for the confederation. Just two months prior, the AFC had joined forces with UEFA and Concacaf to oppose Infantino, citing a breach of trust regarding his leadership of football's global governing body.
