The Argentine Football Association (AFA) approved a new format for the Argentine Championship on Thursday, continuing a trend of frequent modifications to the competition since 2014.
The primary change to the structure is the removal of the group stage for the 30 participating clubs. Despite the structural shift, the league will maintain its 30-team roster. Rosario Central currently holds the title of 2025 Argentine champion.
River Plate was the sole club to vote against the project during the proceedings. Estudiantes de La Plata did not participate in the vote.
